Punctelia subrudecta Growth type foliose Cortex K+ yellow, medulla and soredia C+ carmine-red, KC+ red, UV- Common, found on trees, mossy siliceous rocks and wood. Variable. Greenish-grey thallus, the lobes light-brown or whitish underneath, darker-brown at centre. Farinose soredia from white, punctiform pseudocyphellae but apothecia are very rare, the discs reddish-brown with +/- sorediate margins. Similar: P. jeckeri. Underside pale. Lobe tips brown-grey, pruinose. C+ red. P. borreri. Lobes dark beneath. Medulla, soralia: C+ pinkish-red P. reddenda. Lobes dark beneath. Medulla C- |
