Punctelia reddenda Growth type foliose Chemical results: Cortex K+ yellow. Medulla C-. 'Old woodland' indicator usually found on mossy trunks in sheltered, humid woodlands. Also occurs on mossy rocks. Thallus is bluish-grey, grey-green or yellowish-green, lower surface black with brownish margins. Lobes dotted with white pseudocyphellae producing soralia with coarse, granular soredia. Small folioles often present but apothecia and pycnidia are absent in Britain and Ireland.
