Mycomicrothelia confusa Growth type crustose Chemical results negative Occurs on the smooth bark of Hazel (Corylus avellana) and other deciduous trees in shaded, humid woodlands The blackish perithecia with a basal fringe are scattered, rarely confluent, on whitish or creamy areas of bark that are sometimes surrounded with a purplish-black line. Asci 8-spored, the spores greenish-brown, 1-septate, (15.5-)17.5-21(-25) x (6-)7-9(-10) µm, the upper cell usually larger and rounder, the lower cell attenuated. Pycnidia unknown.
