Lichenochora galligena # Growth type lichenicolous. Photographs on Physcia adscendens. Identification confirmed by Brian Coppins Immersed perithecia develop in irregularly-shaped galls on the host thallus. Asci 8-spored, the spores hyaline, simple to 1-septate, (7.5-)10-11(-12) x 5-6(-7) µm. Micrographs below. Similar: Lichenochora aipoliae and Lichenochora physciicola have larger spores. Lichenochora obscuroides is usually found on Phaeophyscia orbicularis (rarely on Physcia spp.) and also has larger spores |
