Lichenodiplis lichenicola# Growth type lichenicolous. Photographs on apothecia and thallus of Rinodina sophodes Infrequently recorded on Rinodina sophodes and Rinodina freyi Globose, dark brown or blackish pycnidia occur singly or in groups, initially immersed before erupting through the host apothecia or thallus. The smooth brown or dark brown conidia are 1-septate, 9.5-13 x 4-4.5 µm. Micrographs below. Similar: L. lecanorae has smaller 1-septate conidia, 4-7.5 x 2-3 µm. Lichenodiplis pertusariicola (on Pertusaria spp) also has smaller conidia. Lichenodiplis rinodinicola has shorter conidia 7.5-9 × 3-4(-4.5) µm and conidiogenous cells but has not been recorded from Britain or Ireland |
