Unguiculariopsis thallophila # Lichenicolous fungus. Photographs on Lecanora hybocarpa Usually parasitic on thalli and apothecia of Lecanora chlarotera and Lecanopa hybocarpa, also recorded from L. carpinea and L. conizaeoides Scattered dark red-brown to black apothecia, the thick, incurved rims with curved, refractive excipular hairs. Asci are 8-spored, spores hyaline, simple, (6-)7-9 x (2-)2.5-3.5 µm, rounded at apices and often with numerous guttules. Apothecia often concentrated near margin of host thallus. Micrograph below.
