Cladonia subulata Primary thallus squamulose, secondary thallus fruticose. Chemical results: K-, C-, KC-, P+ red, UV- Can be abundant among Calluna on well-drained sandy heathland and acid dunes, also occurs on earth banks, wall tops and rotting tree stumps. Basal squamules are absent or insignificant. The thin grey-green podetia with pointed tips are usually farinose-sorediate, sometimes corticate with small squamules towards the base. Antler-like proliferations arise from top of podetia but the brown apothecia are rare. Similar: Cladonia rei. P+ yellow-orange (slowly) or P-. UV +/- white |
