Dirina massiliensis f. massiliensis Growth type crustose Thallus K-, C+ red, KC+ red, P-, UV-. Medulla K-, C-, P-, UV+ pale yellow BLS conservation evaluation: NT NS This is the fertile form of Dirina massiliensis f. sorediata. The apothecia are +/- sessile, the discs white-grey to dark grey and white-pruinose. Asci are 8-spored, the spores 3-septate, 20-24 x 4-6 µm, fusiform and often curved. Microscope photograph below. Similar: Dirina fallax was only recently separated from Dirina massiliensis and only occurs on siliceous and acid rocks. It is thought to probably be widespread in western areas |
