Placidium squamulosum (Catapyrenium squamulosum) Growth type squamulose Chemical results negative Found on calcareous soils, sand and humus and sometimes associated with cyanobacterial crusts. Thick pale to dark brown, irregularly shaped squamules (2-7 mm diameter) attached to the substrate by hyaline to dark brown rhizoidal hyphae.
