Enchylium tenax var. ceranoides (Collema tenax var. ceranoides) Growth type foliose Chemical results negative Occurs on basic soils, damp gravel paths and sandy tracks. Tufted or +/- compact thallus with erect digitate lobes, much swollen when wet. Rarely fertile but miscropically the same as Collema tenax var. tenax with asci 8-spored, spores 3-septate to muriform, 17-26 x 6.5-10.5 µm. Micrograph below. Lichenicolous fungi include Didymellopsis collematum Similar: C. tenax var. vulgare is no longer recognised as a separate variety |
