Lecanora chlarotera sens lat Chemistry: K+ yellow, C-, P-. UV+ mauve-purple. Apothecia margins P- N.B. Specimens without microscope examination of sections in water under polarised light (POL) should be recorded as L. chlarotera s. lat Occurs on tree trunks, branches and twigs, also on fences and timber. Very variable, apothecia pale dull brown to reddish-brown, sometimes dark brown, not or very rarely slightly pruinose. The margins contain large, angular crystals. Epithecium covered with small granules visible in water, dissolving in K. Spores simple, 10-15 x 6-8 µm. L. chlarotera s. lat includes L. argentata, L. chlarotera, L. hybocarpa. Lecanora pulicaris has smaller discs, the narrow margins P+ orange |
