Buellia stellulata Growth type crustose Chemical results: K+ persistent yellow, C-, P+/- yellow, UV- Identification uncertain, needs confirming Usually on siliceous coastal rocks and pebbles. Often found with B. ocellata The small patches of pale greyish, cracked thallus with a black prothallus often form mosaics. Apothecia to 0.4mm form between areoles, initially immersed. Asci are 8-spored, spores brown, 1-septate, 8-15 x 5-8 µm. Similar: Buellia aethalea. K+ yellow going red. |
