Buellia ocellata Growth type crustose Chemical results: K-, C+ persistent orange, P-, UV- Often forms mosaics with Buellia aethalea on exposed siliceous stonework, rocks and pebbles and on granite or sandstone headstones. The small, areolate patches of green-grey or yellow-grey thallus are sometimes surrounded by a black prothallus. Immersed black apothecia, the epithecium brown to olive. Paraphyses with swollen dark tips, spores brown, 1-septate, (11-)13-17(-21) x 6.5-9(-11) µm. Micro photographs below.
