Ramalina canariensis Growth type fruticose Chemical reactions negative. Medulla, soralia UV+/- blue-white On well-lit trees with base-rich bark, also rocks and sheltered walls. Very variable. Thallus of one or many +/- flattened, ragged, grey-green lobes, the ends splitting to reveal farinose soredia. Younger lobes are solid with a lax, cottony medulla, older lobes are hollow. Apothecia very rare, marginal or on lobe surfaces, spores 15-21 x 6 µm, broadly ellipsoid or kidney-shaped. Similar: Ramalina lacera. Solid thallus, laminal and marginal soredia |
