Incertae sedis
Muellerella lichenicola Growth type crustose, usually lichenicolous Recorded on a number of crustose lichen genera including Caloplaca, Catillaria, Lecanora, Mycobilimbia, Protoblastenia and Verrucaria. Usually occurs on species on calcareous substrates. Many small, black, globose perithecia develop on host thallus. The asci are multi-spored (64-100 spores), spores 1-septate, 5.5-7 x 3-3.5 µm. Pycnidia +/- immersed, conidia hyaline, 3-3.5 x 1-1.5 µm. Micrographs below. Similar: Muellerella pygmaea. Asci with 16-64 larger spores, 8-10 x 4-5 µm. Usually found on crustose saxicolous lichens. |
