Cladoniaceae
Cladonia fimbriata Primary thallus squamulose, secondary thallus fruticose. Chemical results: K-, P+ rust-red, UV- Common on recently disturbed ground, rotting wood and stumps and among moss on walls. Also found on dunes and drier heathland Squamules are numerous but often inconspicuous. Smooth slender podetia abruptly open into goblet-shaped cups with very fine grey-greenish soredia. Corticate granules and squamules are absent. Similar: C. chlorophaea. Cups gradually tapering. Coarse, granular soredia. Cladonia humulis is persistently corticate for 1-2mm at base |
