Parmelia ernstiae Growth type crustose. BLS conservation evaluation: NE ? Cortex: K+ faint yellow. Medulla: K+ orange > red, Pd+ orange, UV- Widespread but scattered distribution on shaded trees The pruinose lobes are grey-green when moist and become greyer when dry with conical isidia that frequently develop into small folioles (phyllidia). Pseudocyphallae are usually absent. Lower surface dark brown to black with simple rhizines, branched at the tips. Apothecia scarce, discs orange-brown Very similar to Parmelia saxatilis |
