The thick, very pruinose, pale-greyish to white thallus is cracked or areolate and surrounded by a white prothallus. Apothecia are frequent, concave and initially immersed, the discs mid to dark grey and strongly pruinose. Asci are 4-spored, spores 25-40 x 10-17 µm, muriform with 4-7 transverse and 1-2 longitudinal septa and dark-grey or brown when mature. |
