Lecanora jamesii Growth type crustose Chemistry: Thallus K-, C-, P-, UV+/- pale orange. Soralia K+/- weak yellow Can be locally abundant on Salix in damp woodland. Rare on wood. Small +/- circular patches of pale to mid-grey thallus, often with blackish prothallus. Translucent spots (large crystal clusters) are visible when thallus is moistened. Scattered piles of yellowish-green punctiform soralia form in centre of thallus. Apothecia usually absent. Similar: L. farinaria. On wood and worked timber, also found on Salix and Calluna stems.
