Ricasolia virens (Lobaria virens) Growth type foliose Chemistry usually negative, sometimes K+ faint yellow, KC+ faint pink Shade-tolerant and usually occurs on broad-leaved trees in old woodlands and parklands, occasional on shaded rocks. Can be locally common in SW England, western Scotland and SW and western Ireland Large grey-brown (dry) or green (when wet) thallus with overlapping, short, unridged, lobes that are whitish and tomentose below. Soralia and isidia are absent but apothecia usually frequent, brown with warted margins. |
