Very sensitive to SO2 pollution. Often without distinct attachment, probably mainly wind distributed. BLS conservation evaluation: NT P Eng Wa IR Long grey-green thallus, the main branches usually +/- smooth, older branches with scattered pseudocyphellae. Branches constricted to central core forming sausage-like segments. Infertile in Britain and Ireland. Young specimens can resemble Usnea flammea, K+ yellow-red |
