Can be frequent on exposed, well-lit timber and weathered wood. Often found on coastal fences and posts.

Yellow-grey or greyish, granular thallus, the prothallus indistinct or absent. Small apothecia (to 0.8mm), discs pale or dark reddish-brown, sometimes slightly pruinose. Margins entire to crenulate, becoming inconspicuous. Black pycnidia. Spores 7-12 3-6 µm, conidia +/- curved, 7-8 x 1-3 µm.

Sometimes host to Unguiculariopsis lesdainii
