Micarea erratica Growth type crustose Chemical results: Thallus negative Common on smooth pebbles and small boulders, particularly flints and stable shingle. Rare on worked timber Thin grey thallus with dark-grey or black fimbriate prothallus. Small (<0.4mm) dark apothecia, often leaving ring in substratum. Epithecium dark green-blue, hypothecium dark brown. Spores simple, 7-10 x 3-4 µm. Pycnidia often abundant. On pebbles can be confused with Catillaria chalybeia, Micarea lapillicola and Amandinea ssp. |
