Usnea cornuta s. lat Growth type fruticose. Chemical results: Medulla K+ yellow or orange-red, P+ orange or K+ red, P+ orange to red Aggregate comprises Usnea arianae, Usnea cornuta, Usnea subpectinata Moderately pollution-resistant and common on trees in the South and West, but less frequently found on rocks. Bushy, +/- erect, greyish-green thallus, the base not blackened. Side branches are markedly constricted where joining main stem with small white dots that develop isidia and areas of granular soredia. Lax white medulla. Similar: Usnea subfloridana.
