Xanthocarpia ochracea (Caloplaca ochracea)

Chemical results: K+ crimson

Inland and coastal distribution on hard, natural limestone.

Thin yellow-white or pale-yellow thallus, the dark orange-yellow apothecia concave or flat (never convex) with thick, slightly paler margins. Spores become 4-loculate when mature, 12-15 x 5-7 µm.

Similar: Caloplaca dalmatica has a finely areolate thallus and spores that remain 2-celled
