 Orange Balsam Impatiens capensis Flowering time: June to September. Annual. Neophyte Originally from North America, now naturalised on damp or marshy ground by ponds, slow-flowing rivers and canals. Most frequent in southern half of UK Long-stalked, helmet-shaped yellow-orange flowers with darker spots and a long spur. Leaves oval-lanceolate, often slightly wavy-edged and with coarse teeth. It is a hairless plant and can grow to over 1m tall. Related: Himalayan Balsam Impatiens glandulifera has pink flowers and is very invasive  |
