 Crosswort Cruciata laevipes Flowering time: May-June. Perennial. Native GB and Channel Islands Grows on damp but well-drained neutral and calcareous soils among rough grassland, scrub and in hedgebanks and open woodland. Dense clusters of small, honey-scented, yellow flowers are followed by smooth black fruit. The hairy stems are initially spreading then erect with whorls of four hairy yellowish-green leaves.
